I'm having surgery in 2 weeks that requires local anesthesia to be used. When should I be looking to taper from MAOI or do I just need to be off it for a day or two? These are things I need to talk to the anesthesiologist about. But wanted to know if anyone here has had surgery and also was recently taking a MAOI.

What sort of surgery is it?

I would definetly stop taking it. My grandmom had complications even though she stopped taking it 3 days before and was tapering. It doesn't mix with most anesthisias and many surgeons and anesthesiologits don't know much about it these days.

It really depends on the type of surgery and the type of anesthetic which is going to be used. In some cases, problems can arise due to other drugs used during/after surgery, and not the anesthetic itself. I think this need to be discussed with the anesthesiologist as soon as possible. The anesthesiologist will know which techniques he can use for this specific surgery and whether there are likely to be any issues. He may be able to modify the anesthetic technique in order to avoid interactions.

I've had two knee surgeries since I started on Parnate. I told the surgeon well in advance and when I told the anethesiologist, he said not to worry. He wouldn't use anything that reacted with parnate. So you don't necessarily have to stop MAOIs at all.

To remove a wart on my little finger. It's filled up with blood vessels inside. It got pretty big and needs to be lanced. They're going to use Local anthesia.

Local anesthetics do not interact with MAOIs. Some anesthetic techniques used added epinephrine, which might potentially cause an interaction (but not necessarily). You need to discuss this with your anesthetist because it may be possible to avoid the use of any of the drugs which can interact.

A lot of younger anesthesiologists don't know about nardil. The problems for my grandmom began after the surgury that is correct. So thats worse since the drs. don't know what to do.
Frankly, I would say stop it. Its not worth messing around with. I would still tell them to treat you as if you were still taking it, since 2 weeks isn't very long.
I would rule on the side of caution.

oh well I was talking about the Whipple procedure not removing warts. I guess thats not a major surgery then and would be fine.

Well yeah, it's obviously a minor procedure and even if the anesthesiologist is not familiar with MAOIs, he will have plenty of time to 'read up' on it if you tell him about it ASAP.
