I understand as no one in immediate family especially husband has ever had anxiety and fears. Got to be in the shoes first. I've tried theraphy with him and it didn't work as they still can't feel what you feel. Phillipa

Well you are obviously hurting and suffering from something that is real. I think you wife needs to express her frustration with you in a more constructive manner.
What are you doing right now to treat your symptoms?
Are you in therapy?
Do you take things like fish oil? Fish oil may help you brain work better and respond better to treatments.

Sorry, that sounds painful. It's difficult to teach empathy.
Have you tried explaining what it feels like to experience what it is you're experiencing? Has she received any education about mental health?
It's very difficult to help people understand who have never experienced the things we've experienced. It's not impossible though.
The most important thing right now is to focus on taking care of yourself. I write this now knowing that this is what I need to do for myself too.

Thanks all.
Shes put up with a lot.
The good thing is, it is true, and it tells me that I need to find something to help me long term. I am more chilled on meds.
Just finished a 4 week Celexa trial so I am a bit of a handful at the mo.
Thinking of trying Lex after vacation.

One of my closest friends got very depressed and would cry and talk about how bad she felt everytime we met. I reassured her and validated her, which her family was not doing (you need to get out more, change jobs, exercise more, stop feeling sorry for yourself). But I have to say that there was a way in which I felt abandoned by her. In her depression, she was no longer available to me and couldn't be a friend. It made me realize how hard my bouts of depression have been on my family.

Never tried fish oil while having treatment of ssri.
Tried them alone bur didn't note much positive effect but I believe is all to do with brand and dosage.
Im in UK any suggestions for a good brand ?

Carlson's hands down, best quality for the money. There are several good ones out there though. You may also want to experiment not only with dosage, but also with EPA to DHA ratio. You may do better with high EPA/low DHA. You may do better with high DHA/low EPA. Or, you may do better with a ratio of fairly equal amounts of both EPA and DHA. Anyway, most people don't realize that even if they do not feel any significant therapeutic benefit, they should probably take some fish oil for general health benefits-eyes, heart, brain(neuroprotection/function), joints, blood sugar/insulin sensitivity, and healthy cholesterol levels.
