Anyone on Lamictal monotherapy for BPII?

Posted by catmint on August 19, 2010, at 16:31:59

Hi all!! I haven't' been here for like 5 years! I've been off meds the entire time. I am considering going back on Lamictal which I had decent results with. I am seeing a MFT today to discuss it.
I'm just wondering if there are any people here with Bipolar II who are only on Lamictal?

Thanks for reading

Amy

I don't know. I wish I could help. I have Unipolar Depression in the form of Major Depressive Disorder with Recurrance. I'm experiencing an episode now. My pdoc is adding Lamictal and I just picked up the prescription today. I will be following this thread as well as the other thread I started about my issues because I'm interested to hear people's experiences with Lamictal.

Thanks for bringing it up! I hope you feel better soon.

I have just recently come around to the fact that Lamictal just isn't enough for me for depression. When I first started taking it, I really liked it. I thought it helped get me out of depression better than an ssri. But I was also on 5mg lexapro at the time. I tried going off the lexapro more than once, and now I'm thinking about going back on it again, or something else, because I have been very depressed lately. I also have some anxiety so I'm hoping it helps with that as well.

For me lamictal has very few side effects, so I think that is one reason why I was so hopeful that it was the only thing I would need to take.

I think for most people Lamictal works best as an adjunct to their regular meds. herpills
