I'm just not sure what to think. I dropped the seroquel (it was great for sleep, had a slight antidepressant feel, but it made me very mean the next day - NE?)
Now I take 300mg Lithium during the day. The first several days were great. I actually felt like I was on an antidepressant (I had energy and a sunny outlook).
I also take Geodon and Klonopin at night. Sleep good - not as good as Seroquel, but good.
Couldn't tolerate Geodon during the day because it made me a zombie.
My problem now is that I feel depressed. I don't know if it's the Geodon or the Lithium. (I notice I become depressed when I have just one drink while on Lihtium).
Maybe Lithium isn't the right med for me? I don't know.
I do know that I need something for this awful depression.

Hey. Sorry you're going through a rough patch. I'd personally (just speaking personally here--not an MD or anything) try taking either the geodon OR the Lithium, not both. The combo can be useful for some people, such as those with schizoaffective disorder, but it kind of seems like overkill for a non-psychotic bipolar spectrum disorder. Plus, lithium can make people kind of lethargic and unhappy--that's one reason so many people go to Depakote instead of lithium.
Are you still taking Adderall?

> Are you still taking Adderall?I was pretty flat on Depakote, I think is is just as likely, maybe even more, to cause lethargy and depression than Lithium. It really depends on the person of course.
Sheila, what about upping the lithium from 300 to 600 in divided doses and switching to the extended release version.
Would you be open to trying some herbs, mushrooms, and other supplement to augment your depression treatment?

I think you may be right. I may be on too many "downers" I need to pick one. I forgot about the 10mg of adderall. My doc suggested Wellbutrin, but I am scared to take that due to the fact that it made me manic in the past. Although, with Geodon, I couldn't imagine anything making me manic.
Plus - the fact that 1 glass of wine while on lithium can push me into a depression concerns me.
The 10mg of adderall does nothing for my zombie, lethargic feelings.
I wonder about the Wellbutrin / Geodon combo.

Sheila you mentioned alchohol twice could it be that? I used to drink with benzos and paxil and felt great so not condeming. Could it be the klonopin? Phillipa

It's not the Klonopin, I've been taking it for years with no problems.
I rarely drink - maybe a 1/2 to 1 glass of wine or so a week. I know we are to never drink with any of our meds, but I think some of us do have a tiny glass every so often.
I actually think the Lithium is getting me down. I thought it was the Geodon because it makes me a little sleepy. But when I go back to my Adderall and Geodon I am fine - not depressed, etc.
I think having 2 mood stabilizers (my doc was using Geodon as a mood stabilizer on me) is too much.
We'll see. I need to get in to see the doc and see what's up.

I do agree alchohol is fine with meds as used to drink myself. Phillipa
