I've been taking 1.5 year old zyprexa for a long time, at 15mg. I got some new zyprexa, 15mg, and its much stronger. I went from sleeping 10-12h a day to sleeping 12+ and having a realy hard time getting out of bed after taking the new stuff for 5 days. Weight easyer to control also on the old stuff.
I have a theory that diabettes may be less on old. And that 10mg new equals 15mg old. Unfortunaly I did not check blood sugar on the new.

Can you try less of the new and see if your theory is correct? Phillipa

I could, but now I'm worried my doc will get upset for cutting down the dose. I took 10mg of the old stuff for a couple of days, just so I could make it to work. And everything went great! But now I'm worried the doctor will be mad at me for decreasing. So last night I took 15 of the old, and I slept a bit more. Realy I'm thinking I would like to go with the 10mg old for a while. The only drawback is I drink more on the lower dose. So, what should I do? I'm feeling like I need to go see the pdoc, but not sure what to say.

Well I've decided. I'm going back to taking the old zyprexa at 15mg. And save the new ones till next year.

What is the expiry date? Have the tablets been stored appropriately? eg. in a cool, dark place with low humidity.
So long as the tablets have been stored correctly, they should not lose a significant amount of potency until well after the expiry date has passed.
If the tablets have been stored in a hot place, or if they have been removed from the original packaging, their potency may be reduced.

They expired in March 2010. They were in a closed container with a desicant in it. Stored at room temp.
Phillipa, you are right I definitly don't want to drink more.

In that case, I expect that they may have lost a tiny bit of potency, but not much.
