My Doctor wanted to try me on Manerix basically because it's suppose to be as good as an SSRI without the sexual side effects. Well I'm currently on day 4 of Moclobemide (RIMA)and just bumped up to 150mg 2x a day. The first few days I feel agitated but with a slight reduction in social anxiety. Although right now my libido seems to have gotten worse than before. I don't feel like sex or even hanging out with people that much. What is going on ? Should I give it a few more days or are do some people just not do as well on MAOIs vs SSRIs? I'm also interested in maybe trying Parnate, but I can't function well with med withdrawels and no medication for that stupid 2 week washout period, and yet another if I don't like it to return to another med. What gives?

You need to give it more than a few days! Antidepressants don't work overnight.......and people often feel worse before they feel better. Mild agitation is common when starting moclobemide but I expect it will pass quite soon. You need to give moclobemide a chance to work. If you don't feel any better after four weeks you can try something else.

That's what I keep telling myself. Although most of the SSRIs I don't get that 'agitation' feeling even from startup. Paxil was almost non-existent. I thought MAOIs worked in a different way so that this would happen. Does this mean the other MAOIs (parnate, nardil, emsam) also could do this ?
