Vyvanse is barely working for me. At what point does it convert to Dextroamphetamine? I'm on Vyvanse 70mg. For me it doesn't ever seem to work as well as 10mg a day of sustained release Dextroamphetamine used to work for me. I tell this every time I see my Pdoc and he only shrugs! How can I get my Doc to put me back on Dex? Switching to a new Pdoc would take months and no guarantee that he would listen to me either.

After absorption, lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) is converted to dextroamphetamine in the wall of the intestine and in the liver.

Why is your pdoc continuing to prescribe Vyvanse if it isn't working? I don't understand. Does he have reason to believe that you might have been misusing Dexedrine? (I'm not suggesting that you were).

I'm glad you asked and there is no reason why he would suspect that I have ever abused Dextroamphetamine. My guess is just the bad reputation Dex. has because of crystal meth addicts in this area. Or he doesn't think there is any difference between Vyvanse and Dex?

I guess Vyvanse is 'in fashion' at the moment.
We don't have Vyvanse here. I suspect we never will. Stimulants aren't generally prescribed in the UK, except for severe hyperactivity in children.

Did you say that you're on clonazepam? Clonazepam, like all benzodiazepines, impairs alertness, attention, memory and co-ordination.

Yes I have been on and off since the 70's. Valium to Xanax then Clonazepam. I haven't had any tolerance issue with these but I find it more difficult than ever to stop completely. I'm also on a Beta blocker. Usually prescribed for High B.P. but in my case for a genetic disorder. This med seems to cause much more impairment of coordination, memory, and.. I forgot what else??
