I'm coming off of strattera after 6 months. I think it worked in the beginning, but then pooped out. Plus it made my social anxiety worse and just gave me a bleak outlook.
As my moniker implied, I've tried lots and lots of things for ADHD. Stims, Wellbutrin, TCAs, Effexor, pristiq, cymbalta, lamictal, mirtazapine, MAOIs, 4th, 5th, nth line treatments.
I think the thing that worked the best was desipramine, but the sides were truly horrendous - it made me anxious, hateful, angry and depressed. I've never really gone above 75mg, but I figure the sides would just get worse. I don't think it even works for me anymore.
tried combos, like ssris to ameliorate the sides from strattera or desipramine. ugh, that made me so fatigued an nauseated. Abilify + desipramine = weird.
Anyway, is there anything new indicated for ADHD? Maybe some stone left unturned or something?

I have inattentive ADD, and for me Focalin and Dexedrine were the 2 that worked the best with the fewest side effects. Vyvanse is more or less the same drug as Dexedrine.

Also, if you haven't tried it yet, Provigil (Modafinil) is sometimes very helpful for ADD. I've never tried it myself because it is very, very expensive (insurance won't cover it for ADHD).

I've been keeping an eye on that webpage - they have not updated it for a year now, maybe I will email them.
I've tried focalin, dexy and provigil... not much luck

There's guanfacine, but I have to be honest: it probably won't work.
I don't mean to upset you but it sounds like you've tried all the major treatments and suffered either side effects, poor efficacy ...or both. Perhaps it would be best to avoid any further trials of medication?
My own experience of psych problems is that some things just don't respond to medication. Sometimes it's best to accept that this is the case and find ways to move on with your life in spite of it. My own problems with anxiety mean that I will never be able to achieve what I could have achieved without anxiety. Medication can only help up to a point. What I really need is a new brain but that isn't going to happen :)

btw, I did try intuniv/guanfacine - you're right - it didn't do anything for me. :)

Yep, there are some things that meds just can't fix. My attention span is poor unless I'm doing something that I'm very interested in. I don't think any amount of medication could change that.

memantine has been trialled - with some success - for ADD, though i believe the greatest enhancement it afforded was with respect to working memory. may not do much for motivation, etc.

I'm on Vyvanse 70mg for ADD/Depression and I don't think I am benefiting much. Seems to last only a few hours. Dextroamphetamine worked much longer at only a 10mg dose.

Yeah I've heard mostly bad things from those switching from Dexedrine to Vyvanse, unfortunately. Dexedrine 10 mg extended-release capsules always worked very well for me too.To the OP: another possible option is Aricept. Its an Alzheimer's drug and I've only heard of a couple people taking it for ADD, usually as an add-on with a stimulant.
Or, have you tried: selegeline (deprenyl/Emsam), L-Tyrosine, DLPA, or nootropics like piracetam? I can't think of much else if you've been through all those, I'd try to find ways/medications to help mitigate the side effects of Strattera or Desipramine.

I now think mitigating the side of desipramine & strattera is impossible. I have tried many thing. These drugs are just too noxious for me.
