This is ridiculous. It's time to go to bed and I don't even want to go. This is how last night went.
midnight: took
12.5mg ambien CR,
8mg perphenazine,
300mg seroquel,
30mg nortriptyline (this was actually taken about 10pm so I could monitor before bed)tried to go to sleep at 12:30-- no luck
1am: took 2mg ativan
2am: took 1/2 ambien CR
3am: took 2mg ativan
sometime around 4:30 actually sleptI'm going to run out of my ambien before it's allowed to be refilled because I keep having to take 1.5 per night! I can't take more perphenazine because it makes me depressed. I would like to get off the perphenazine altogether as I think even the 8mg makes me somewhat more depressed, but then I would never ever sleep! I was thinking of cutting my dose of seroquel and seeing if a lower seroquel dose would actually be more sedating. I was thinking of adding Benadryl, but the would be a 6th medicine just for sleep!! I'm hoping when the nortriptyline gets higher it will be more sedating. At what dose is nortriptyline sedating? I was also thinking of maybe switching back to Lunesta-- I was doing better on it until my insurance started refusing to pay. I think though that I have a good case to appeal to the insurance company as to all I've tried to sleep! Otherwise, does anyone have any ideas? I'm scared to go to bed because I know it's going to happen again tonight and I'm just going to toss and turn and keep adding ativan or ambien each hour until 5am or so. This sucks. It's one thing that we can't get my meds to control my depression-- it's another that we can't even get them to get me to sleep at night! And, yes, I exercise. I actually taught quite a tough aerobics class tonight-- we did alot of intervals so all of us were exhausted. Any suggestions that will help me sleep would be appreciated!

Parnate and mirapex both keep me wide awake, but I take them first thing in the morning, so you'd think they'd wear off... I have a call in to my doc about this already-- it's driving me CRAZY! I'm up again tonight because I can't sleep!

Still awake enough at 1:22am that I'm thinking of writing a collaborative letter for my disability and trying to get my new case manager to sign it tomorrow. I'm not even drowsy. I have had
30mg Nortriptypline (8:45pm)
11:30pm
Ambien CR 12.5mg
perphenazine 8mg
seroquel 150mg
Benadryl- 2 caplets (I found some in a cabinet)12:20
Ativan 2mgIt is now time to take another 1/2 ambien but I'm am so sick of this that I may not bother. If I'm not even drowsy after the above, what will the 1/2 ambien do? That quantity and they of medications should knock me on my AS*, and here I am strategizing about how to write my own disability collateral evidence letter and get a new case manager whom I've never met to sign on her first visit. Bright eyed and bushy tailed... well, you know. But I have to sleep sometime and I have crap I have to do tomorrow during the day. This sucks.

Lower dosages of Seroquel might be better for insomnia than higher dosages. Maybe 25-50mg.

After much work on my insomnia, I am *mostly* sleeping with 200mg trazodone, 100mg nortryptilene, and .5 clonazapam. I still struggle some to fall asleep and I am groggy in the morning but this works FOR ME. My doctor doesn't like the way ambien works with other psychiatric drug and doesn't use it for that reason. Definitely see your doc about all this and ask some questions.
Good luck!

I can't trazodone because I'm on an MAOI

Some doctors are willing to prescribe both. They just do it very slowly

I had more trouble sleeping with Nardil than Parnate. I took 25 mg of Seroquel and 7.5 zopiclone (sometimes 15 mg.).
MAOI insomnia is awful. I hope you find something that helps you get some zzzzzzzzz's.

Hi peanut,
Been there with Parnate. How long has this been going on? What dose?
For a time its a big problem with Parnate, but it will subside. I urge you to:
1. See your pdoc right away (don't remember what he knows your on, but lay it on thick and make sure whatever you get is awesome, and isn't contraindicated with all the other meds, hopefully you'll be able to ditch a couple few.
2. Exercise, while exhausting, I believe can keep some people up at night, especially if done in the evening. And on Parnate.
3. I know this sounds lame, but it saved me. Melatonin, 6-10mg, I think it comes with thiamine. I liked it cause if I woke during the night, I could redose and fall back to sleep. Check that out with your doc though.
4. Recheck each med and make sure your at optimal dose for inducing sleep.
I feel your pain, but it will pass.
