Maybe someone who knows how agonism works can answer this. Saphris is an antagonist of D1, D2, D3, D4 receptors and Mirapex, which I also take, is an agonist at D2s D2l D3 D4. Should I not take mirapex while I'm trialing saphris because it would cancel out any of saphris's dopamine antagonism effects or does it not work that way?

In reply to mirapex vs. saphris- cancel each other out?, posted by inanimate peanut on July 4, 2010, at 1:03:54
To a certain extend, it does work that way. The saphris will block some of the agonism afforded by the mirapex.
The saphris will do a little more, in that it will block serotonin receptors too.

Hey, doing about as well as I was before for the past few months. I'm getting tired of trying new medications but I don't want to give up and throw in the towel yet. I have problems with my mood and sadness and loneliness especially but what are killing me are the absolute lack of motivation (like everything I do is a brick wall) and absolutely zero pleasure in anything. Like I said in another post, mirapex helps but I can't take a high dose or I eat the whole house! I HATE medication side effects! So that's how peanut is doing-- thanks for caring :-)

Hey peanut, have you tried Requip/Repreve (ropinirole) instead of mirapex? Same or similar DA family. I was initially prescribed it for RLS but it blew my depression out of the water very unexpectedly. I hear you about side effects and meds in general. Good luck.
Unfortunately it made me vomit a lot, which I put up with because I was feeling so much better, but in the end that just wasn't an option anymore. One crappy side effect.
