It sounds like a broken record...

Have you tried the following combos?

- Typical AP + TCA?
- Atypical + TCA?
- Atypical + 2nd Atypical + TCA?
- Atypical + SNRI or SSRI?
- Atypical + mood stabilizer + TCA or SNRI?
- Mood stabilizer + TCA or SNRI?

What are your symptoms? Not your dx. What do you have exactly? Hallucinations? Paranoia? Depression? Anxiety? Mania? Anhedonia? Etc...

May be you should consider changing your pdoc, tough.

Maybe you just need to give seroquel more time to work. When I went off zyprexa and on to abilify then back on zyprexa. It just seemed like it was not the same. But I knew it would work because it did in the past. So I just keep taking it. 3 years later now and it seems to be working better all the time.

Jeroen, you've got to move on. Its been years now, the same post over and over "seroquel worked and now it doesnt"

Nobody knows why meds work then stop working. We don't know why.

I thought you had just restarted it in the last few months? My zyprexa is not quite as good as before, but a slightly higher dose now it seems to realy help. Maybe you could add something to the seroquel? I found that just taking perphenazine with it seems to work great. Maybe the abilify is counter acting the seroquel? Thats what it did to the zyprexa I was on. Still on the zyprexa not the abilify. Do you think the abilify helps any? You did say the seroquel is helping some for manic. Maybe that and abilify will help you?

seroquel and abilify are both anti manic from what i can see

I cannot take zyprexa as it makes my psychosis severe with attacks

So, maybe the abilify and seroquel are working? Your not going crazy are you? Maybe zyprexa is not going to work for you.. What do your doctors say about your mental health?

Seroquel=Sleep wonder-drug!

Seroquel, in very small doses (50-100mg) works WONDERS for sleep if scripted off-label. It stops working after using it daily very soon--but if reserved for those nights where you just can't get "over the top" it is a Godsend.

I also should mention that, not being a benzo or z-drug, it has almost no abuse liability.

My only complaint is that it puts you into such a deep sleep you will not move the entire night...I have awoken with my whole side of my body "asleep" and that's no fun.

If anyone has 1-3 nights of insomnia per week and either their z-drug (Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata) or benzo (diazepam, temazepam, etc.) is not working anymore or they fear they may be getting an addiction going please ask your doc about trying 50mg of Seroquel! I am in amazement at how well it works...but could not see how someone could take 400-800mgs of it per day and expect to stay AWAKE. Wow.

It works very well for me as a sleep aid in these lower dosages. Thank goodness. It also seems to work somewhat as an adjunct to my anti depressant, which at this time is Pristiq.
Whatever works.

I once took a family members 100mg seroquel and 500mg Depakote. They were set next to my vitamins and down they went. Fifteen minutes or so and I could barely see. How I made it up the steps to bed I don't recall, crawled maybe?!

I slept the entire day and woke up in the evening in a complete fog. Amazing what people can grow tolerant to.
