Hi, I took Lithium for a month and I gained 30 pounds in as many days. It wasn't helping my bipolar so my pdoc said not to take it anymore. I am having a very hard time losing the weight. The only other med that could be causing the weight gain is the Nozinan I take at night. Is that a weight gainer?
I know a lot of people here know about my anorexia and you probably think I am lying about the weight gain. But in the past 6 months I have gone from being underweight to obese BMI wise so I am not crying wolf. Even my GP said that I have to lose the weight. I am eating only 400 calories a day and still gaining a weight. So my ED is still strong, but the weight isn't coming off.
I hate myself so much. I am an ugly fat pig. :-(

Maxie don't know the med but know that if the calories too low your metabolism will slow down and make it harder to lose the weight. Phillipa

Hi Maxie,
Nozinan can cause weight gain, yes. It's similar to chlorpromazine in this respect. Is there anything else you can take instead?
400 calories a day is very little (as you know!). Perhaps you could increase your calorie intake by eating plenty of healthy foods such as fish and vegetables? This should not cause weight gain but will help to improve your health.
Hugs :)

Hi Dimples :)
Will the Nozinan make me gain weight no matter what my intake of food is? Or will it just make me hungry (which it does). I was taking Loxapine before until my body got used to it. Does Loxapine make you gain weight?
Thanks for your help.
