Oops, posted in the wrong spot...
Greetings folks! I'm new to the board, but I've followed it a few years as I've tried various meds to deal with my ongoing anxiety/mild depression issues. After trying almost ever antidepressant in the book, never being able to tolerate them (they made me a more hyper, anxious, depressed person. I'm currently on 100mg lamictal x1 a day and Klonopin 3x per day. This is working pretty darn well. my energy level was a tad low, and i had a weight gain due to an unfortunate run in with Remeron in the Fall (i loved that med other than the constant urge to stuff my face and no control to stop it)...
I know my doc has been itching to throw Wellbutrin into the mix since, so I took my first one this a.m. ---Typically, I'm ha, anxious, about a new med, though i took it with my morning klon. Any wellbutrin tips or encouragements? mostly, i wanted to share the experience with others who might have had similar experiences. I do not have many friends who really "get" my issues or that i talk about my meds ,etc., with.
Thanks in advance...:)

If you have anxiety sometimes wellbutrin isn't a good med for some. For me it wasn't made me very anxious. If not depressed why add an ad? Just curious as to what the thinking is on that. Phillipa

If you haven't responded to antidepressants over the years and treatment for unipolar depression has failed you may fall into more of the bipolar spectrum of disorders. I say that because you said antidepressants made you more hyper and anxious.
That could be a reason your doc tried you on Lamictal. (I take 100 mg of Lamictal too and it saved my life!) If everything is working "pretty darn well" i would challenge your doc about adding the Wellbutrin. ssri's can make someone in that spectrum (which you may or may not be) rapidly cycle from depressed to hyper/anxious and impair your ability to function. If you feel better that's great, but i would journal a lot over the next 3-6 months and chart your moods. If you feel you are all over the place mood wise i would get rid of that antidepressant quick!
For more on this check out Dr. Phelps page at psycheducation.org. He talks a lot about modern treatment of mood disorders in people who seemed to be more agitated when taking AD's. This page really opened my eyes about my poor history with AD's and why i was feeling so terrible.
Best of luck, keep us posted! I'd love to hear more b/c your situation sounds a lot like mine!
