Does snris cause tardive dyskenias

Posted by alan7065 on April 18, 2010, at 12:07:31

Hi,
I'm on Pristine and I sometimes like move my jaw a little or clench muscles in legs. It is controllable, I don;t do it in front of people and it seems a bit more like being slightly wired than a tic. But I am obssesive and want to make sure this is not TD or a tic. Any thoughts?

SSRIs and SNRIs often cause muscle tension in the jaw. This is a common side effect of drugs which elevate serotonin. It is nothing to do with tardive dyskinesia.

I was taking pristiq and it made me like that. Kinda jumpy? I didn't have it in my jaw or any specific area but initial I kinda jumped a lot. I think its because SNRIs increase adrenaline too. I also had this from wellbutrin but it was much worse. I felt like I was constantly ready for someone to jump out and scare me when I was on wellbutrin.
