Anixety issues...

Posted by SheilaC on March 3, 2010, at 9:32:01

Well, I have tried and tried Depakote, but it just makes me depressed. I hate that.

Last night I just couldn't sleep so I finally took 50mg of Seroquel and slept great.

Pristiq helps with the depression, but not with motivation and focus too much. Seroquel helps with sleep.

Is Pristiq, Vyvanse and Seroquel with the occasional Klonopin a bad combo? I feel like I have to take so many meds just to seem normal.

I live in the south and the weather is starting to change. I notice in the spring and fall my anxiety and depression spike. That coupled with some really stressful stuff going on sucks.

You know the fact that it spikes in Spring and Fall sounds a bit like classic bipolar. My ex father in law experienced this and was bipolar. Changes in light supposedly but he's now deceased and it was years ago. Spring in the South? I'm in the south with snow on the ground icck. Love Phillipa

Yes, I believe I am pretty classic BPII. But the Depakote was making me depressed. In a desperate attempt at sleep I have gone back to Seroquel - now I just need to cure the Seroquel irritability. It's always something.

Not being able to fall or stay asleep is slow torture. Do what you have to do to feel well. You'll need as few or as many meds as that takes. Nothing to feel bad about.

May I ask if the Depakote made you drowsy or had any help with the anxiety (but brought you down)? Does Seroquel seem to have any antidepressant effect for you?

Perhaps I am not taking enough Depakote, but last night with dinner I still felt a little speedy (plus I had a headache) from the Vyvanse so I took 250mg of Depakote. It didn't seem to calm me down. Klonopin would have - I don't know why Depakote wouldn't.

Seroquel does have some antidepressants side effects for me. But I only take 50mg when I am desperate for sleep.

I like the Vyvanse for energy and motivation,I just need to calm down in the evening. Sometimes it feels like it doesn't wear off. Maybe 500mg of Depakote? What dose of Depakote would bring me down?

My guess is that you'd have to take the Depakote consistently for a while at the right dosage to see benefits. The right dosage is what gives you positive effects without too many side effects. Sorry, your pdoc would have to advise.

But, I totally feel for your situation and will either be starting depakote or seroquel to make sure I don't get too happy from the Effexor I'm taking. that and I will probably discontinue Remeron if I can get away with it. I feel great, but I have to take about 3 x .5mg lorazepam for anxiety/mixed/racing mind and zopiclone to sleep. Not so bad, but I'd like a simpler and more consistant approach.

Keep at it and let us know how it goes.
