I recall that lithium wasn't too kind to you before.
Sorry sweetie. Are you able to taper off? Do you have another stabilzer in mind?

Thank you for the hugs and understanding. I think I may have to go off this med. I certainly can't go any higher so it will be interesting to see what my levels show at 600 mg a day. I'm thinking of going back on Trileptal since that worked before. I just have to make sure it goes with the Parnate.
Thanks again.

Still hating this med. It's making me all jittery and now I have a tremor in both hands. I see my pdoc on Friday and will ask him if I can stop taking it. It is not even helping with my mood swings.

Maxime, you have tremors at 600? That's awful. Do you need to wait until Friday? Can you taper down a bit? (I appreciate working with your doctor; I just want you to get relief ASAP, and Friday seems so far off.)
Have you been sleeping?
Hugs!

> Hugs!Hi FB, I am just trying to be med compliant for once and not stop the med. I have a tendency to take things into my own hands. On Wednesday I am getting my levels check, maybe after that I will go back to 300 mg. I remember this happening to me the last time I was on lithium. I was toxic on really low doses.
Sleep? Not happening I am afraid. Maybe 2-3 hours a night. Although last week I went 4 nights straight with no sleep at all. The purple faery dust doesn't seem to work anymore. :-(

The same thing happened to me too Maxime. I had bad edema and had such bad tremors I couldn't type. The mouse would literally shoot out of my hand.
:( Side effects suck.

Well, maybe the sleep faery can fly over your house. She's been on vacation, so no wonder. I think your place might be on her way home.... And she has lots of colors!
((((good night sweetie))))
(Med compliance is good. I've finally realized that myself.)

The sleep fairy did come by and I got 5 hours of sleep which is a lot for me. Hopefully she will fly by tonight as well as I have a lot of catching up to do on sleep. :-)

How are you doing with the lithium? Were you able to drop down?

I went to see my pdoc yesterday and there was note on his door saying that he had been in an accident and unable to see patients. I hope he is going to be okay.
I stopped taking the lithium yesterday. I felt so ill on it. I really wanted to stay med compliant, but since I couldn't see my doctor I can't do it. I know that it was helping me but I gained 18 pounds in one month of being on it. It made me so HUNGRY. I want to go on Trileptal instead but I guess I will have to wait for my doctor to return to his practice.
I've been sleeping well the past few days because my mum is in the hospital and I have been running back and forth between the hospital and home that I am exhausted.
Thanks for caring. I don't know, I have never used gree faery dust. Maybe it would work as well as the purple. I should try it. :-)
Goodnight everyone. xoxo

Maxime, that's awful news about your doctor. I imagine someone will care for his patients for the interim. I'm very sorry. Do you think you'll know something by next week? It'd be good if you didn't have to wait too long to try the Treliptal.
I'm glad you're sleeping--and sorry to hear about your mum.
Hugs,

Thanks FB. I just received an email from my pdoc ... he is in the hospital with a broken hip. I am glad that he emailed me because I have been very worried about him. He said he will start seeing patients in about 2 weeks. I can wait that long. In the meantime, I have stopped the Lithium completly. I feel a lot better off it and I am not retaining as much water as when I was on it. Now all I have to lose is my Nutella weight since the Lithium made me crave carbs and I put on 18 pounds in a month. Very scary for anyone, but especially scary for someone with an ED. :-(

Maxime
In terms of sleep related issues, do you have any issues that would interfere with daily aerobic exercise, such as walking, jogging, climbing stairs, etc? I have found that this is helpful for me although I still have a serious insomnia problem with Parnate, and right now I am only at 20 mg daily. For many years I did not have this problem, but when I was younger I did jogging.
After my by pass surgery the best I can do is walk as much as possible. Since I live in a two story apartment, and if I am wide awake at 2 a.m. I will walk up and down the stairs maybe up to 10-15 times in a 15-30 minute period, and it does make me more able to sleep.

Hi Phillipa, I'm here. Just not as often--staying unplugged somewhat. I don't like my son to see me online or on my cell too often. It can become a bad habit.
Hugs to you!

Maxime, glad your doctor is relatively o.k. A broken hip can be quite serious--amazing that he'll be able to see you in two weeks.
18 lbs in a month sounds very uncomfortable! When my dosage of abilify increased, I put on so much weight so quickly, it just didn't feel healthy, meaning the process itself felt awful. That's quite a side-effect. Lithium is not a med for you, given this and your previous experience!
How are the mood swings?
Glad it's only a two week wait. Hang in there. Green faery dust still working?
Hugs,

Hi Maxime:
I am really sorry you are having such a tough time. (What really seems odd is that often, when we hit bad times (over the years) we can, eventually, bounce-back....but the pain is still the same.)
I think Lithium is like most psych. drugs, in that it either works, doesn't work, or can really exacerbate our problems. I had a similar response to Lithium as you did. I became very frustrated and angry all the time. I remember phoning up my brother just to argue with him when I was on Lithium. But, to another person, the drug may be a resounding life-saver. I have found this website, http://www.askapatient.com/rateyourmedicine.htm ,
somewhat useful in the ranges of responses to certain meds. It is pretty clear...some of us do great on one combo or med, and it may feel poisonous to another. I hope you can get back to your doctor asap.Jay
