10 mg + 20 mg of Dexedrine = no effect

Posted by alchemy on February 16, 2010, at 21:49:33

I tried the 10mg recently and I noticed nothing. Today I tried 20mg and don't think it did much either. I am pissed. I am on a low dose because without a stabilizer I started to go up and down on 30mg of Adderall. 30mg of Adderall was happiness & motivation for a week.

I am now on Lamictal, hoping that it will keep the stimulant in check. (fyi-I saw a post here about someone wondering if Lamictal might dampen the effects)

I would guess going to 30mg would help, but it makes me nervous.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Alchemy,

What form, and how did you dose?

When you said 30mg adderall was happiness for a week, you meant 30 mg per day for a week? (Sorry to be dense.)

Are you working w/ a pdoc, and can you run the dose increase by him or her?

You've probably posted this elsewhere--why the switch from adderall to dex?

Sorry to ask questions w/o offering any answers.

Hang on there!

Adderall is a bit more "stingy" in it's effect's because of it's content of levoamphetamine which increases NE firing giving you more of "buzz sting".

Dexedrine...maybe you should try 40mg?

hope for the best

Lamictal is probably doing stuff to smooth out anything else you do. The stimulant effect might be blunted by Lamictal?

I guess what I am saying is, if you expected the stimulant to feel the same with Lamictal as without, except with stability, I think that is not a realistic expectation? It's a different ballgame when lamictal or any antiseizure med is involved in the mix.

Alchemy,

BB's answer makes sense--I overlooked the recent addition of lamictal.

I've heard good responses from lamictal.

If you care to answer any questions I posted above, if it'd helpful, I'm here.

Hi
I think Lamictal can dampen the effects of a stimulant. I feel it does that with me. On a positive note it means one can go on a higher dose if needed without swinging or switching into mania.
That's been my personal experience, anyway
Good luck
