Well, my doc thinks 300 once per day to possibly increase to 300 twice per day.
I tend to be sensitive to meds (brain fog, fatigue, dullness). More is not always best for me (not a hard and fast rule).
Has anyone had a lasting positive effect at, say, 100 per day?
A preferred brand or form as an ad adjunct?
Okay, thanks. New terrain for me.

peanut, thanks for the good thoughts!
After I started this thread, I came across two others asking lithium advice. Apologies for the repetition. I'll read along.
Here's hoping the best for all of us!

fb, don't know anything about lithium, but I hope it works for you. I'm glad to see you're starting something new that has some promise. Keep us updated!

I hope it works for you. I tried 100 mg a day after not tolerating 300 mg and my lithium levels were not high enough in my system to work. I was able to tolerate 200 mg, but again there was not enough in my system. You might have some trial and error with this med but in the end I think it will work. Best of luck to you!

> fbI once tried Lithium at 600mg/day. Start slow and low. I never went past 900mg. Unfortunatley, I didn't stick it out long enough. It tended to dull my emotions. My type of mild bipolar is more depression symptoms. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great drug and it may very well work for you. Good Luck.

Well, I don't really have any advice except to echo what another poster said, go slow.
If you can discuss the different lithium formulations with your pdoc, that would be good. Make him/her go over all the versions with you, possible interactions, etc. I think sometimes the docs neglect to do this.
I switched on my own to a generic this week and I am paying the price with upset stomach, nausea, etc. I had forgotten what a potent med this is.
It has helped many people though.

Hi fb,
I am still nauseated, headache etc. I see my pdoc tomorrow.
I reread your first post and I just wanted to say I am also extremely sensitive to meds and experience the same dullness and fatigue that you do. On almost everything. I think the docs get frustrated w/me.
The first time I took lithium, way way long ago, it worked as an adjunct to an AD for me. And I was able to tolerate it.
So, I guess our systems change over time and depending on what we have tried or not tried. I wish you the best of luck!
Roslynn

Thanks for reading and posting,

What are the different versions of Lithium? I was just prescribed what I thought was regular lithium. You mean there is more than one type?
If you don't have the answer do you know where I might find it?

That's the long acting that wasn't available for a while about 15 years ago isn't it? That was always the preferred version of the docs I worked with. Phillipa
