I have been trying a few different stimulants for supposed ADD. They do seem to work for my attention, focus and slight depression. Plus, I don't have any anxiety on stimulants (weird).
But, I do notice irritation (too much dopamine?).
I have tried and failed Wellbutrin due to manic irritation.
I am wondering if I am missing something here.
The stimulants work, but am I depleting a chemical that my brain needs? Do I need to add something like Effexor?
I can't take SSRIs (side effects).
There is no doubt that I have some ADD, but I am also wondering how to deal/treat the irritation.
Is my brain missing serotonin? norepinephrine? getting too much dopamine? What?

If you're noticing irritation and you don't tolerate SSRIs, then your doctor may add an SNRI like Effexor, Cymbalta, or Pristiq. Maybe your brain is still chemically imbalanced and needs additional serotonin. Serotonin plays a big role in anxiety and depression. Yeah, talk to your doc about your symptoms and adding an SNRI like Effexor.

I've heard a lot of people say that Wellbutrin is a good AD for bipolar people. But when I told my doc that it totally makes me crazy, screaming, out of control manic, she said she has heard it can do that. So, Wellbutrin is very much out for me.
Weird, but stimulants don't make me anywhere near as nuts as Wellbutrin did.

I'd hate to think of what a stimulant would do to me although I'm always tired and wired at the same time. Phillipa
