Hello all,
Im from Germany taking Stablon for 14 days now. I began to take after 2 years of SSRI treatment. My last Lexapro pill intake was when i started with Stablon, but I titrated the Lexapro down over 3 weeks before. I started with the recommended dose of 3x12,5mg. From day 1-12 there were almost no side effects. 2 days ago very bad side effects appeared as listed in the package insert. I suffer from vomiting, abdominal pain, nervousness, insomnia, myalgia, severe anorexia and back pain for two days now. Is there anybody that had such bad reaction to stablon...should i lower the dose to 25mg/day?? What do you think??

Let me welcome you to babble. I'd heard stablon was good for anxiety and kind of between ad in sedating and elevating side effects. It almost sounds like my prozac trial as three days till side effects. I'm hoping lots of others with experience answer you question. Phillipa

First of all, welcome to babble.
Stablon isn't available in the US but if you do a search you should find some threads here about it. It's interesting that it took a while for your symptoms to show up. Lowering the dose makes sense, but maybe you should call your doctor.

I think you should stop Stablon right now.
I took it for a year or two and never experienced anything like what you report. The worst I felt was some weirdness and anxiety. I wonder if you extreme reaction has something to do with your having been on Lexapro. Once you get used to being without Lexapro you might find Stablon less terrible?

It was my wish to get this prescription and it was the first time my doctor heared about stablon, so he wont be competent to give me advice about this. I will lower the dose and see how it develops. thx for your advice

After 2 years on Lexapro my brain probably habtuated to chronic elevated serotonin levels and now ist the opposite. I will lower the dose, I dont think there will happen something fatal if i go on taking 25mg/d or if this is still too much lowering the dose to 12,5mg/d. I lowered it today and this evening its already feeling much better! Hope i will recover in 1-2 days!
How much did you take an how long did it take to kick in??

Hi,
My first thoughts are to be sure you've checked your temperature to rule out flu. Then I would ask if you've ever had this group of symptoms before--wondering if nerve pain is an issue.
I really suggest contacting your doctor/ despite his or her lack of experience with stablon, they could ask a colleague.
If it is a Med reaction, your symptoms sound severe. I don't think your doctor would want you to suffer in silenceWelcome, and take care,
fb

Insomnia and nervousness seem *relatively* benign effects. I was interested in the pain and the vomiting.
>How much did you take an how long did it take to kick in??
Tianeptine for me worked from the very first dose. I knew 15 minutes after taking the first dose that it was right for me. (I'm not familiar with ADs that need a long time to work.) I took mainly 3 tablets a day, sometimes 2, sometimes 4.

And why did I stop?
I started to feel anxiety and weirdness.
No withdrawal to speak of.
It was a good drug for me.

>Thats the strange thing with Tianeptine and me. In the beginning it made me calm and relaxed and I felt kind of mood elevation. This lastet for about 3 hours an subseded slowly. Yesterday I just took 25mg/d and this morning Im feeling better than yesterday. I will stay on this dose for a few days to see what happens. I really can imagine that there is a porblem with my previous LExapro use and the seamless transition to Stablon. The first 8 days when i took Stablon i took 2,5mg Lexapro every 2nd day by the way to avoid brain zaps. Then I stopped the Lexapro and 5 days later these symptoms occured. I still hope the Stablon will work for me, its kind of last bullet for me, this is why i wont quit it immediately.

I think that such a reaction is entirely possible - Stablon's usually low side effect profile seems to have created a certain mystique about it that makes it seem benign and harmless. It's not. It's an extremely powerful drug, which is bound to cause reactions among users.
Having said all that, I took Stablon for a year, and the only time I experienced something like you've described was when I had a few drinks while on the drug - I was violently ill.
Definitely try lowering the dosage to see if it helps :-) Welcome!

I started Stablon about 1-1/2 weeks ago and started with 1/2 tab the first day, then 1/2 tab twice for about 5 days. From there I shaved a little less off each tab to increase my dose until
I got to 2 full 12.5 mg tabs this past Friday. From what I've read about it, you should taper up. Maybe you started too high. I had not been taking any other AD for months prior to stablon...except trazodone for sleep. I would suspect that discontinuing the other AD might have cause you some trouble as well.I'm loving the tianeptine. I just wish I didn't have to order out of the country to get it. I'm afraid of what will happen if I can't keep a steady supply. I was desperate by the time I found out about it and had all but given up hope of ever feeling well again.

My Doctor now prescribed me low doses of Lexapro(5mg, Amisulprid(25-50mg) and 75mg of Trazodone for my sleep difficulties. I take this combination since I stopped the Stablon and its working very well. Maybe i try to up the Amisluprid dose in the next days, but to this point its good combination. He said I can vary the Lexapro between 5 and 10 mg and the Amisulprid 25-50mg. Im feeling much better now aside from my anxiety of developing Tardive Dyskinesia. My Doctor said that there is a very low risk at those small doses and if this combinatinon helps with my affective problems then it is justifiable to take it.
