Just wanted to note that I had this weird side effect w/ Deplin. I was taking it for about two months (but started it w/ Lithium, Lamictal, and Parnate - also taking Seroquel). After a short period I started getting groaning pain on my lower right back (kidney area). Didn't think it could be the Deplin so we cut back on the lithium (from a low dose of 900mg to even lower 450mg).
Finally after a month of dealing with the intermittent pain I went to urgent care on Saturday. At the same time I stopped taking Deplin as my doc's attitude about it was "it can't hurt". Well sure enough by Monday when I went for a CT scan (to check for kidney stones) and blood work I feeling better.
Today I went for results and everything (liver/kidney function) was fine. Lithium levels were very low (.2) and the ct scan showed no indication of kidney stones or that I ever had one.
Just wanted to throw my experience out there. Perhaps it wasn't the Deplin but sure looks like it at this point. Wanted to log in in the event anyone else starts taking deplin and has this problem. Of course this is the first site I searched for potential side effects of all the meds I was taking. Found very few people complaining about any w/ Deplin.
Anyway glad I got the good bill of health and am feeling better.

I'm glad your're feeling better tried deplin for about two weeks no pain I haven't read of that on here. Could you have just had a small kidney stone you passed on your own and not due to any meds? Phillipa

Slight possibility but they said had I had a stone there'd probably be some evidence of tearing (blood in urine etc) which I didn't have.
Either way just putting this out there. There was one thread about Deplin and lower back pain but either way I kinda hope it was the cause. Don't want it coming back ;-)
