Hello,
I was wondering if storing prescription medicines in the freezer has and adverse effect on their potency.
Thanks, James

I think I'd call a pharmacy and ask that question as most or some say cool dry storage place. Phillipa

One problem I can see is that when you take something out of the freezer, if there is any humidity in the air, moisture will condense on it. And you want to keep your pills dry. So I would not put my pills in the freezer.

So I would not put my pills in the freezer.Yes, i purchased a large quantity and i wanted to keep them as fresh as possible. There are sealed in a push through "pill card" with 10 pills on each card.

That would solve the moisture problem (as long as it's water-proof). But the expiration date is determined for normal storage conditions. How are you going to know how much extra time you get by storing it in the freezer?

I have no idea....I didn't really think it through to that point, didn't think it was that big of a deal until they didn't seem to work as well as before I froze 'em. Oh well, i guess it's an expensive lesson learned.

I have a hard time imagining how freezing them would have damaged them, as long as they didn't get wet. Lowering the temperature would tend to slow down any decomposition of the active compound.
This is the end of the thread.
