Hi there
I managed to get through all the registration stuff (phew!!)I have bipolar and have been on Lithium (1000mg) and Tegretol(800mg) but haven't stabilised so low dose Risperdal (0.5mg) has been added to stabilise my mood. I have been cycling about every 3-4 months with last episode being psychotic.
Just wondering do the anti-psychotics have mood stabilising properties and has anyone had experience with risperdal added to other mood stabilisers.
I'm hoping it will work. I will appreciate your thoughts.
Many regards, Sam

Most of the atypical antipsychotics have some mood stabilizing properties. The four I know of with the most stats behind them are Seroquel, Zyprexa, Geodon and Abilify. Geodon and Abilify are actually antidepressants as well as antipsychotics.
I have had experience with Invega, which is the metabolite of Risperdal. I got NMS taking it so couldn't tell you much. Most who take Risperdal love it and swear by it.
