Dear all:
I had a very bad OCD replase in spring and it abated over a few weeks. I have been med free for two years. During the summer I actually was pretty good and felt better than I have in 5 years. I would wake up once at night and then eat a little and get another few hours. Once allergy season hit I had a hard time and my sleep went down to 6 hours.
The freeze hit and I feel better but sleep has been getting worse and worse and I can't get back to sleep after that first wake up. Sometimes I am up at 2 and sometimes at 3:30. I have started to fee depressed so last night when I awoke after 3 hours of sleep I took chloro-tab (4 mg) and 1/3 of a 10 mg amitryptline. I slept and felt better but the sedating feeling I have is harsh. Does that get better? Should I keep trying without meds? If I don't get that 2 hours of REM in the morning I am really tired.
The doctor says my anxiety is situational like work stress or an argument etc. I take things very hard and have a hard time letting go. Not sure what to do. I feel like a failure for turning to meds again and I feel like the only one with this problem at times. I really don't have much to be stressed about that is what bothers me. Waking up early at 5 is one thing but 2 or 3 is a killer. Hard to stay positive. I actually thought this summer I was on the road to a complete recovery......bummed out and not sure what to do.
Srri's are out (too much anxiety) paxil and luvox were not good and caused insomnia.
Benzo's are out became tolerant and they cause horrible rebound anxiety and kill my REM sleep which I seem to need. I am getting kind of scared.

Mixing amitriptyline with another sedating drug can make you feel horrible. What about trying the amitrip, say 10mg, on its own.
This is the end of the thread.
