Buspar

Posted by consue on October 21, 2009, at 23:10:45

I have a daughter who has been taking the Brand Name - Buspar for 9 years. She has done absolutely awesome on it for her anxiety issues. She has tried the generic, but does not work for her. I have just received found out from our pharmacy that the Brand Name - Buspar is no longer being made. Does anyone else know about this. If you have been on Buspar for many years and have gotten off, please let me know how you are doing.

Thank you

Hello consue,

Welcome to Psycho-Babble! It's too bad your daughter doesn't respond to generic Buspar. I've heard from other people that the generic brands don't work for them either. I hope it's not true that Buspar is stopping production. I've never taken it so I don't know anything about it, but hopefully someone here will know more.

I'm doing okay on the generic buspirone.
No problem whatsoever.

Thank you X-ray for your response. Did you ever try the Brand Name, Buspar before you tried the generic? My concern is that she has tried the generic a couple of years ago and it did not help her. Maybe since she is older, maybe there is a chance that it could work for her.

Hi,

I have been on the brand name of Buspar for ten years.

I also had a negative attitude to the generic pills.

However, three years ago I switched to the generic of buspirone.

I can't tell any difference between the brand name pills and the generic pills of this drug.

Best regards,
X-ray

Has she tried upping the dose of the generic?

You might try alternating brand and generic to see if you can get her used to the generic. Or you can try upping the dose as suggested by another poster.

Good luck.
