Hi,
My path to recovery has many twists and turns. My mood has been helped lately by a MBCT class (Mindfulness based cognitive therapy). My anxiety has lessened, and I've been able to decrease my benzo use and my dex use (for social anxiety + fatigue).
What I'm dealing with as a core issue now is fatigue. It feels 'separate' from MDD and mood disorders. A basic sweep of immune disorders screenings have not revealed anything. (I do have Hashimoto's.)
Symptoms include post-exertion fatigue. I see a pattern of 'over-exertion' followed by getting sick--low grade temp. (not quite as high as 101), sore throat, deep aches in hips, back and shoulders.
Wed. I dug a small trench in my son's school's garden where I volunteer. I knew I was over-doing. I wanted to be 'normal'. Thurs. I fainted. Friday I made it through the day. Sat. I'm flat on my back, sick. Today, more of the same. Not depressed--but feeling like sh*t. Others in my family do not catch these 'bugs' I get with increasing frequency.
I will pursue this with my doctor and others. However, I just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone has had similar experiences. I hesitate to self-diagnosis. And with so many theories and treatment options, well, it's overwhelming.
thanks for your ear,

Your hashimoto's is not being treated correctly and that is the cause of your CFS symptoms.

Fb that could well be true the hasimotos as same as mine flutuates the hormones of thyroid. But also they do say that the autoimmune system is dysfuntional in hasimoto's. Lowered autoimmune system could lead to more frequent infections and bugs. Some say opposite but seems to be true. Plus your're around children who have all the germs. Schools are breeding grounds for all sorts of things. Just a thought. Sometimes I think all the nursing did in past dispite the hasimotos strenghened by autoimmune system as didn't have most of nursing years. Being exposed to such horrible diseases who knows? I do have the fatigue though. Now I'm rambline. So sorry you're not well. Love Phillipa

You can read more here

Likely your on t4 only treatment and has been told thyroid is adequately treated. Likely you have low t3 in the tissues and possible adrenal fatigue which is causing the chronic fatigue syndrome.
Íf you have a thyroid problem and CFS, I would assume that cfs is just an extension of the thyroid problem.
