Celexa

Posted by paxvox59 on September 30, 2009, at 13:35:10

Hey peeps. Finally got to see a Pdoc (paid $200 out of pocket). He scripted me 20mg Celexa. I have never tried this one before, but in scanning the postings about it, I see reference to W/D issues. Can anyone catch me up on what has been definitively said about Celexa? My goal is to STOP this freaking Remeron and to have something to bridge me over and through W/D from IT. I would not want to take the Celexa, however, if it is going to hook me the same way the Remeron did.

Celexa I took when it was new it made me very tired. Of course also on benzos. I'm guessing that after the month was on it I was put back on luvox low dose with a touch of paxil. So you totally want off ad's? I assume if you react with extreme withdrawal same would happen with celexa? Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in. Phillipa

My issue, Phillipa, is not with TAKING meds, but with AFFORDING treatment. I was very stable (well, for one of US I guess) for years when I had insurance and all and could see a Pdoc as needed. Now, I have no job (for now) and no money really to pay for what might be the best treatment. I got on the Remeron only because I was in a place (prison) where mental health care was not....well...up to standard. When I got out last Fall, I tried to stop the Remeron but could not tolerate the w/d and was w/o medical care. The best I could find was a GP who would continue the Remeron until I was in better position to pay for it. I had a job from Feb. until May, but got injured and could no longer do the work. I'm only just now physically better and able to do most work. Unfortunately, being a felon doesn't help my situation in finding work.

Yes your're so right. Sorry. What about public psych clinics? Phillipa

I took celexa for 7 years. then it stoped working. So I switched to zoloft. Just like that no decreasing. Well I didn't have any withdraws. So if you are just switching from remeron it might not be so bad. Remeron is much more sedating the celexa is not. That could be a problem? Hopfully not.
