I was on buspar with my Celexa and Lamictal for a year or more and the daytime doses would make me moody, angry, sad, and short-tempered, among other things.
I have a sexual trauma past and since coming off it I find it very hard to sleep with/share space with my partner. Instead of breaking up and going crazy with my own doubts, confusion, and rumination, I started taking 5mgs of buspar at night again.
I've read occasional posts about people taking it just at night, but my doc thinks this will be useless bc of the short half life.
taking it during the day just bums me out.
Anyone with just nightly dosing experience?
Thanks!

Hi,
The half-life of Buspar is only 2-3 hours.
I have been on Elavil and Buspar.
Sometimes I woke up at four in the morning. Then I used to take 20 mg of Buspar to help me sleep a few more hours.
After that I took 20 mg of this drug at noon.
So my daily dosage was 40 mg.Normally I was on 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg in the afternoon.
Because of the short half-life it is recommended that you take this drug three times a day.
Best regards,
X-ray
