i've been on parnate for about a month now, i take 30mg a day. its helping the depression, but my pdoc wrote me a script for lithium 450, i believe thats the mg. i was just wondering, what is this going to do to me. i've been feeling excellent on the parnate, and the only reason i'm going on lithium is to keep me from cycling into hypomania. so i'm nervous, is this going to make me feel like crap again? is it even safe? do ppl combine these drugs often? any experience with this combo?

Good for bipolar and lithium levels will be taken by your pdoc to see if levels are safe. Love Phillipa

I think it is perfectly safe, especially at fairly low doses. I would just ask your p doc about this.

i'm not too sure about the Lithium/Parnate interaction, but that's good to hear that a low(ish) dose is helping. How's your sleep on 30mg?

as to the sleep question, not so great. i've had insomnia for quite a while. last night was my first with lithium, its hard to tell if i slept any better, my children kept me up anyway. yeah, the parnate is really helping out-even just that low dose. its the only medicine thats been able to pull me out of my dark place. im just curious what the lithium will make me feel like. i guess time will tell. my doc says it can help with my irritability. that would be great.

Hi Epona_lee
Are you still doing fine? I really hope so :)
Might I ask you a question? How long did it take for Parnate to kick in after this obviously good first week you had? Was it something different at first?Something like "the immediate Parnate effect" you were noticing at first that vanished after a week and later the real antidepressant effect emerged?
Also you mentioned that you felt tired at the beginning.. is that still the case?Just interested, since I just started 3 days ago and I am really feeling too tired to work..Thank you and good luck!
This is the end of the thread.
