I just added 5mg of Zyprexa to my cocktail and in just one day I feel a significant improvement in depression and most importantly obsessive, ruminating, torrential thoughts. My question is, what is it about zyprexa that let it work, when Abilify and Geodon didn't (still on 120mg of Geodon in fact).
Also, about the weight gain-- does it come from a slowed metabolism or does it come from increased hunger?
Only downside is a noticeable worsening of my writing skills (grammar and usage) which I haven't felt on any other drug.
At least it feels good to have a settled mind for the first time in ages.
Anyone else have success on zyprexa but not other antipsychotics?

Uncouth I write with a former babbler that zyprexa is like gold to him. Also many say it eliminates suicidal thoughts? Why I don't know but sure glad your're better!!!! Love Phillipa

Cool!

Dunno. I've always felt Zyprexa has something special about it that nothing else has, but don't have any theories why.

> Also, about the weight gain-- does it come from a slowed metabolism or does it come from increased hunger?Probably a combination of multiple things. Increased hunger, yes. Increased desire for weight gaining foods, yes. Those can be controlled and managed effectively with well chosen foods. You should be able to eat all you want, they just have to be the right things and not the wrong things. There was a research paper I saw a few months ago that looked at how Zyprexa impacted dozens of different genes. It was determined that Zyprexa turns up the volume on about 30 different genes, and turns down the volume on about 30 others. The genes involved in storing food as fat probably were turned up.

Yeah I was foggy-ish and somewhat lost the first few weeks, though feeling a lot better pretty fast. But the more time went on, the more engaged I became in life and the sharper I got. Those were probably the most productive years of my life. My mind was sharp. Following a dulled start.

> -uncouthYeah, me. Never tried Geodon. But Seroquel, Abilify, and Risperdal were not friendly to me. Zyprexa is somehow distinctly different.

Zyprexa is the best! The only thing even close to it is perphenazine. Which I take also. I too noticed an improvment with the zyprexa the first dose. Kicked in within minutes. I've tried all the other atypicals and had horible results. Haven't tried seroquel. I would have but know it is just as bad for weight gain and diabetes, so why bother?
Zyprexa makes you hungery but I think it can also raise blood sugar.
