Ok - Tegretol is working great for my mood stabilizer. But I still have trouble sleeping. I love Seroquel, but I notice that it does make me swell like the other atypicals.
Don't know if my doc would like me taking Lunesta every night.
Anything else I can add for sleep?

I'm not Scott ( he is away for the week) but what about Typtophan? 1 gram should do and I don't see why your pdoc would have any problem with you taking it.

My pdoc doesn't mind me taking lunesta every night. (I don't need to, however.) I don't think it's a bad sleep aid, in fact, I feel it gives my morning mood a boost. (And I haven't increased my dose since starting over a year ago.)
my two cents, and good luck!

As was already mentioned, Lunesta (eszopiclone) seems to be emerging as a favorite hypnotic.
You could ask your question on the Alternative board and receive some advice on which food supplements might help.
Although I have no personal experience with it, there is Rozerem (ramelteon). It is a direct agonist of melatonin receptors (M1 and M2).
I had total insomnia the first time I combined Parnate and desipramine. After 1-2 weeks, it was obvious that it was not getting any better, so my doctor at the time prescribed two benzodiazepines to be used in combination. Once the minimum effective dosages were ascertained, I did not find any tolerance to the hypnotic effects. I slept very well, and always felt refreshed in the morning. Yes, there are differences in sleep architecture that show up on a EEG with benzodiazepines, but I would never have noticed anything different in real life.
