I complained to my Endocrinologist about being depressed. He did some blood work and it looks like my hypothyroidism is out of whack. He is adding T3 to my Synthroid and he also gave me Wellbutrin SR 100 to take.
So now, I'm off Pristiq, back to my good 'ol Seroquel at night with Klonopin and Wellbutrin during the day.
I had other symptoms of hypothyroidism, but I just chalked them up to being depressed. I've been cold (and I live in the South where it's over 100 degrees!), sluggish, sleepy, no motivation and swelling.
Hopefully, the depression and coldness will go away once we get my thyroid disease back in line.

Glad he did the blood tests. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

Hi Shelia,
So how are you feeling off the pristiq? (I forget how long you were on for.) And may I ask where you like your TSH level to be at?
(I have Hashimoto's--I may have mentioned--like my TSH around 1-1.5)
Hope you're feeling better, and if not quite yet, then real soon!

>Why all these drugs if your thyroid is out of order? Wouldn't be better to just work on getting your thyroid completely optimal?

Seems that the endos I've seen at least feel that the thyroid isn't the whole problem. I do disagree with this. Love Phillipa

It might not be, but optimizing stuff like getting your thyroid dosage as high as possible without going hyper(not blood tests wise) and getting your ferritin right would be a good step.
I think at least 1/3 or even 50% of all psychiatric patients have thyroid or other hormonal imbalances, but it is frequently overlooked due to overreliance on blood tests.

So far I'm ok with the added 5mcg of Cytomel to my Synthroid. It may even be a little too much. I may need to cut down to 2.5mcg of Cytomel for a week with my Synthroid.
Don't really notice anything from Wellbutrin SR 100.
I am back to being moody and bitchy now that I'm off Pristiq. The good news is that I'm not severely constipated anymore (from the Pristiq).
I really need to find something I can take.
Pristiq was ok, but made me feel numb/no personality.

Sheila did the cytomel rev you up like a jolt of caffeine as that happened to me at same dose that you took. Phillipa
