Well looks as though i'm not such an amateur psychiatrist after all. my pdoc today put me on a new med i had never heard of before (and i'm one of those who has tried everything, including importing tianeptine and agomelatine). aplenzin is supposed to be a better version of wellbutrin...buproprion hydroBROMIDE. WHo knows if it actually is better but pdoc says its more bioavailable and blood leveels are more stable.
In addition, he wants me eventually on a ultra high dose of it, equivalent to 600mg of Wellbutrin. Anyone have expriences of such high doses of Wellbutrin?
Love,
uncouth

My pdoc gave me some samples of Aplenzin too. I had started out at 300 mg of wellbutrin, but then had to go to 450, the max dose supposedly. Which meant I had to purchase both the 300 mg tablets and the 150 mg tablets, because they don't come higher than 300. This was costing me an arm & leg, as you can imagine.
So he says try Aplenzin, which is NOT generic, but a different formulation of wellbutrin, and they just so happen to have a 522 mg tablet which is equivalent to 450 mg of the old wellbutrin. So I only have to purchase one pill.
I took my first one this morning and don't feel any difference. I was worried that I'd get irrationally angry like I do on generic wellbutrin, but so far so good!

Is this an American drug? New or a reformulation? Phillipa

I was told it was a reformulation of wellbutrin. The bottle says manufactured by Biovail Corporation, Mississauga, ON. Also says manufactured for sanofi-aventis, U.S, New Jersey ...
so far so good!
