Ever since I started taking lithium, I have had an insatiable appetite. It reminds me of Zyprexa in that I think about food all day long.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does it get better with time?

Scott I'm sorry to say that my ex deceased father in law was bipolar and on lithium and gained a lot of weight and then twice a year would go off and then would have a manic episode for about two weeks then crash into a horrible depression. Phillipa

Hi Scott,
I can't say my appetite dramatically increased on Lithium 600mg although I was only on it for 5 weeks.
I can say that my zyprexa zydis has increased my appetite... in the evening. I just keep reminding my self of how bad I felt several months ago and gladly accept the trade off.
Sounds like you have been feeling better and I'm sure you can relate to my outlook on therapeutic benefits vs side effects?
If you continue to improve, shedding the "potential" added weight should be much less of a chore. Just trying to promote a positive outlook for you Scott. :-)
Regards, Rick

I may have experienced this along with the typical dehydration. Not sure if it goes away, I am only currently taking small doses of lithium orotate throughout the day.

Yes, I experienced that and found out that the lithium messed with my blood sugar levels.... I had to switch (slowly) to a lower carb diet which included only the good carbs......(based on the glycemic index)....That helped with the hunger issue on lithium for me! Try it if you can.....baby steps in changes worked for me cause I was such a carbaholic!
