My SO had been on prozac for years for depression. about 4 years ago he went off and became hypomanic- then was started on welbutrin and the mania got worse; lamictal was added with slight improvement but then he self treated with Chantix and went off the wall.
Now he is on Welbutrin, lamictal, prozac and prn valium. His drinking and smoking has dramatically increased.
QUestion: will wellbutrin cause a manic switch
does anyone have any solutions

Lamictal makes a poor antimanic drug. He would be better off with Depakote or a drug like Zyprexa.
