I see old posts where people claim to take that combo.
epocrates warns of cardiac badness.
you think a low dose of desipramine (25-50mg) plus 10mg of adderall xr would be ok?
maybe I'll try w/ the IR version first in case it sucks.
Thanks

Yes, it's similar to Strattera (the new age - called ADHD medication)
Increases the "alertness" effect of Adderall.

For most people, I don't think there would be much danger in combining the two drugs. To be sure, you might want to get a EKG before beginning treatment and then again after taking it for a week or so. Is there any history of heart dysrythmia in your family?
Desipramine can be a great drug for ADD, and I imagine it is combined very often with amphetamine. I once tried that combination along with Parnate at the same time to treat bipolar depression.
Speak to your doctor about all of this. You don't want to waste your time with subtherapeutic dosages of either drug, otherwise the trial is meaningless.
Good luck.

I tried generic desipramnie plus generic mixed amphetamine salts (immediate release) together, but at higher doses, I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what the doses were. I got freaky fast heartbeat and palpitations, which really distressed me. I remember in particular one episode when I was exerting myself in the garden while on those (and other meds) and I had to go inside and lie down. It felt very dangerous to my heart. My friends were over and one was thinking of taking me to the ER if it didn't slow dowm enough after I laid down. Luckily, it did get better that day. My pdoc didn't seem that concerned about it, and my EKG (? I think that's the name of it) from a differnt day showed heartrate over 100 but otherwise no abnormal rhythm. I decided I needed to pick one or the other of those two meds, and I picked the desipramine (the highest priority diagnosis of mine to treat I have decided is my depression). If I had to guess on the dose I was taking, I'd think it was 100 mg despiramine at the time, and mixed amph. salts at 10 or 20 mg a few times a day. But now, I'm at 300 mg of desipramine a day, no Adderall. I do have to take the betablocker nebivolol to calm down my heart from sush a high dose of desipramine plus Cytomel. There are other meds I'm on with them.I hope the mix works well for you. With those lower doses you are thinking of, it could be okay. Just be watchful of your heart.
This is the end of the thread.
