Paracetamol limits in the US

single use of and attention to combo drugs with acetaminophen.

I think this is a good move.

Yes -- but I hope it doesn't lead to sharp reduction of size of pure acetaminophen/paracetamol capsules/tablets/etc in sole OTC drug bottles.

Bulk generic acetaminophen (and ibuprofen) is already expensive enough.

I don't want to have to go to those stupid blister packs.

Fortunately, mostly, you can get economical bulk OTC medications in a bottle or a jar, not those "peel off" sheets that you end up having to use a kitchen knife on.

A bottle is a bottle.

On the other hand, abuse and misunderstanding of multi-compound agents is a big problem.

Its why Robitussin DM (dextromethorphan, generic) is only sold to people over 18 and only in certain quantities.

(Why on earth.. who knows)... but young people have been Robo-Tripping, and if the bottle contains more than just DXM, but also acetaminophen, not only can someone risk severe disassociation and psychosis from dextromethorphan, but possible death from acetaminophen poisoning.

Personally, most of my life I've always used single-drug OTC medications.

If I really need pseudoephedrine (now really tight because of meth manufacture and sign off your name on the poison sheet), I take it singly.

If I need dextromethorphan, I take it singly.

If I have a fever along with this, I take acetaminophen, singly, every 4-6 hours.

I don't need these Nyquil stuffy-head-multiple-happy-advertising multidrugs. (Nyquil first of all, of all things in a cocktail has alcohol or at least used to have a fairly high amount -- and yes, has been abused for that too).

And in conclusion, "paracetamol" suicides at least historically have been higher in England than in the US.

I hope this allows for the wiser and legitimate use of pure oxycodone (Oxycontin).

I can't believe how many of your pain meds are mixed with paracetamol in the US. It's hard to get pain meds here (AU) and yes a few are mixed with paracetamol or ibuprofen, mainly codeine based drugs, but the meds for really strong pain aren't, hence they are very tightly controlled

Web Md has an article on it. Limits now set lower on tylenol. Mentioned all the pain meds also. Phillips
