i have a dilema, weds i have a double appointment with my GP. he dont no much on the mental side ,but he is the one that gave me back 4mg ativan an went agaist the hospital , he saved my life really i trully think i would have died when they took away the 10mg.through your advice i no a little about meds now , an that sertraline is in a small band of meds called ssri,s and prozac was the one that worked years ago for me , but wont now,im on the 100mg of sertraline an have been on an off since january,i get partial relief but not much an the side effects cancel that out,i dont want to go higher an sex be dead altogether or i be as fat as rino even when i dont eat much.whats you slant on if i ask him if i can swap to lexapro, i no its a ssri.s so a taper would be the thing to do , i dont fancy paxil, you see i no a few,i dont want to swap what little relief i have now for a bad mistake , its a gamble we no with all of them but what choise do i have,if he agrees what taper would you say from 100mg sertraline to lexapro ,or am i barking up the wrong tree

Manic if you feel good on the sertraline why change it? What's your functioning like? A typical day and how you feel? Weight it all seriously. To me your're lucky that the med works for you. Love Phillipa

Hey Manic,
I don't want to influence you too much...but Lexapro seems (to me) to be almost the same as Zoloft, mostly in terms of weight gain and sex. Prozac works differently, though. I realize they all work a bit differently, but Prozac seems to be differentiated a bit more from what I've read, and Wellbutrin even moreso. Why did you quit Prozac?

Hey Buddy, We have a lot of the same symptoms and you know I'm on Zoloft but feel a bit blah too!
Have you tried Effexor? It works great for anxiety / scocial phobia and provides a bit of stimulation as well.I may be going back on it as well, it's one of only a few that helped me.
If you have problems sleeping, low dose Remeron goes well with the Effexor.Good luck my friend......... Rick

Get zoloft down to 75mg or 50mg.
Introduce Savella at 12.5mg twice per day for a week, and then 25mg twice per day after that.
Optional, instead of Savella add Nortriptyline, starting at 10mg bedtime and climbing up to 50mg-150mg.
I think you'll find a lot more potential in overall efficacy, speed of efficacy, and lack of blahness, by getting one of these norepinephrine meds in partnership with zoloft.
I would avoid a total switch. Do the above. If a switch is to be done, that is not even on the radar screen yet.
That's how I see it.

i didnt give up prozac it gave me up, when they swapped to flucidine or whatever its called it was not the same an crash , but thats all they give the cheap gentic sh*t, i did try agian years on but it didnt want to no

dont mention effexor , thats twice i have been in the med ,1 at the gp years ago an wandered round town an got lost, the second the mad shrink forced it on me in hospital, without reading my notes,my hair started falling out at 225mg,i jioned the velafaxine web sight to get off, an near on that was all the questions ,how do i get off,the owner of the site which is now closed is a big friend of mine an she writes on babble at times , she 2 is on a low dose of zoloft with effexor, but she is goming of effexor an waiting for the great agomelatine.she told me how to use detox meds from health shops an simple remodise to sleep an how to cross taper she is a cool lady

with my options at nil in england , for add on meds . with my 4 loz situation.on reading lexapro forums , they put a far better light on it than the zoloft forums ,sure the sex an weight issuies are still there , but lexapro is real not gentic, like setraline , every time a get meds they could be different,my thinking was taper 50mg sert add 5mg lexapro 25 sert add 10 lexapro then stop sertraline an see what happens , how does that sound my friend
