Just curious re: people's experiences, since they are creating drugs that work on nicotine receptors.

i smoked tobacco a few days ago, and it was pretty relaxing at first. But im sure if you do it everyday you get nervous (that was my experience with ciggaretes), but the tobbacco buzz is good for anxiety in my case. But I probably wont do it anymore.

My personal experience was with cigars. I didn't smoke them, but would leave them in my mouth for a few hours while reading or watching TV. After about 30 minutes I could feel the nicotine effect. I found not much difference, possibly some slight effect on anxiety, maybe a little help with concentration. It wasn't much, because I gave it up with little regret.

the improved attention helps me a bit with sa. don't really notice depression.
the ritual of smoking is good for social connexion though. drug rituals are almost as fundamental to being human as eating together.

Oh boy! This gives me a chance to plug e cigarettes. I smoke them without nicotine but they are a great soother. I used to smoke a lot, then didn't smoke at all for 25+ yrs, then smoked between 3-5 for 8 yrs and couldn't give it up. I stopped the nicotine solution of the e liquid you use with the e cig and went to the no nicotine solution within a couple of days. Now I just puff on the e cig with a zero nicotine liquid and it is great.
I know it's off topic but I couldn't help it. I've become such an e cig booster.Zana

I do not get help from cigarettes.
But I do get a lift from Nicorette gum 4mg. It is short-lived, maybe an hour or two. Trying to use more gum to keep the feeling resulted in irritability.

I definately get a cognitive boost from nicotine and it helps with my anxiety - a lot. I quit smoking for two years once and it was the worst two years of my life.
However, as with everything, it is a trade off. I'm compromising my physical health in exchange for some relief. At present I am willing to make that trade off.
Later, who knows.

Just made me dizzy and only smoked when drinking beer. Was a stimulant for me. I didn't like smoking. Wonder what that means? Phillipa
