One morning while driving and listening to radio show,.they had on the phone a professor or so,....what this gentlemen claimed was he believed he had a very strong idea where clinical depression is rooted at.
He said its deep rooted in the brain in the area where laughter is generated,he said he had his research of course to show this, but stated unfortuantly its also at a part of the brain were not able to get to.
But he linked the root of most clinical depression disorders to lie near the part of the brain which generates laughter,he was very serious and said he came across this theory over decades,i was in traffic and to my sadness even today i have never found his site he gave.
Curious if anyone ever heard of this or believes it might make sense.Think about it,one time i was high on kava and laughed so hard my chest hurt and i couldent breathe, obiously i was not depressed. So has anyone since being depressed had a good laugh, not a giggle or so,but those chest hurting laughs since depression and meds?
All input pro and con welcome.

Well, a quick scan of the literature indicates that laughter is the end result of a very complicated series of events. However, there is one deep brain structure that seems to play a key role, the caudate nucleus. Actually, there are two of them. Not sure what to make of this, even if it's true.

Well, I've certainly lost the capacity to laugh from the gut. Miss that.
