Just a question.
Anyone here take seroquel with paxil. I am just starting up on Paxil. Will be going up to 10 mgs tonight of the Paxil. Was taking 50 mgs of Seroquel at night, but anxieties are still extreme during the day so I to 50 mgs of seroquel to quiet my brain. Is this o.k.? Am worried about serotonin syndrome, but was thinking dosages would have to be higher. I am 5'2 and 120 lbs..
Just wanted to take the seroquel until I started (hopefully) getting the full benefits from the Paxil.
What do you think? Pdoc is out of town this week.
Thanks,
Courtney

Courtney so the five mg is working good for you? That's great. I always took benzos with SSRI's so don't know about seroquel maybe half or a quarter of the night dose? Is there a doc covering for yours you could call and ask? By the way my husband never took benzos with his paxil as made him tired also. Love Phillipa

Phillipa,
Not sure if its working yet. Can't tell much difference in anything, that's why I was asking about taking the seroquel until the paxil kicks in because I am still extremely anxietal. I'm sure I will have to be at a higher dosage. Pdoc is shooting for 20mgs. Will be raising the paxil up to 10 mgs. tonight.
Had read some where that taking to much of each together could cause serotonin syndrome.
Courtney :-)

> Courtneyyou appear to be med sensitive so go up slowly. I've noticed on all your drug trials you go up to rapidly and get bad sides and abandon the drug. Go up 5 miligrams at a time and stay on that dose long enough that any bad sides subside.
Seroquel supppresses certain neurotransmitters so you won't get serotonin syndrome. Remember slowly or this will be a repeat of the past.

Are the "anxieties" due to the Paxil or do you have a anxiety spectrum disorder like GAD or panic? It's partially body weight, but its more metabolism and sometimes ethnicity that determines how medications go through the system, especially the liver.
But 50mgs of Seroquel unless you really respond to it beyond sleep is really not a psychotropic dose. You'd have to get into 100+ to start, it has a wide dosage range.
So, no, that amount wouldn't nearly cause anything like SS. It's very common to combine an SSRI and an atypical if something like OCD can't be dampened alone by an SSRI.
So something like 20mgs of Paxil and 150 or so of Seroquel would be common.
Some people respond to Paxil at a very low dose, it depends a lot.
