Been on Concerta a couple weeks, and it is a double edged sword.
PROS: Greatly Increases concentration and ability to finish tasks
CONS: reduces sense of humor, makes you more serious, makes you want to socialize less, and makes you ruminate more.
QUESTION: IS THERE ANOTHER MED THAT IS GOOD FOR INATTENTIVE ADD THAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU LESS SOCIABLE AND DIMINISH YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR?

Dexedrine is, for me, very pro-social.

Dextro works better for me than Ritalin or Adderall; it doesn't seem to have any side effects. As for the socialness I have, it doesn't seem to make a difference either way. It just makes me feel more normal.
One time it did, however, give me a bit of social anxiety....it was odd. But it could be just that my anxiety symptoms had returned; could be a coincidence.
I think it's worth a try. It's cheap. I get a months supply, 20 mg a day, for $26. Watch out though-your first 2 days or so...I took 5 milligrams, or maybe even less, 1/2 my prescribed dose, and I was awake for 2 days straight and busy all day/night. That effect went away though, but I'd hate to see how I would have been if I took more than that. But it's nice-it doesn't make you jittery or feel wired at all. A lot smoother than the other ADD meds I tried. It helps more w/motivation than concentration though. But I get through long tasks much better now. It keeps me on task for much longer and w/o getting distracted as much.
My problem is I can't take it at night, but don't get home from school until 6 pm and have a Mon - Fri schedule, and have homework to do. If I take it at night, I do not get any sleep. So I haven't been good at getting my homework done at all.
I'd like to try Provigil though, still having some issues.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply. But did the effects last over time? Also, was the Dexedrine good for attention and short term memory?

I have been using Provigil for years and find it very pro-social. It also helps me with energy, mood and attention.
I think it is being used more these days for ADD. I found all of the amphetamine family to increase my irritability and anxiety.Zana

you could get instant release methylphenidate if your need for an ADD drug and your socializing don't overlap. then just take one in the morning or whatever, and it'll be worn off by evening when you go out for a pint
