Seeing my pdoc today. Have taken Edronax + Zoloft for weeks for major depression, when I started this combo I quit Remeron. Now I'm losing more energy every day, it's like I can't function without Remeron, even when depressed it does something, so I can at least exercise awhile in the morning, I can't do that now.
Would it be safe and rational to add Remeron to my current combo?/Mattias

> Would it be safe and rational to add Remeron to my current combo? It is theoretically possible that adding Remeron to a NE reuptake inhibitor will act synergistically to increase activity in NE pathways. This might be a good thing. I saw only one report of serotonin syndrome involving a SSRI and Remeron.
Wait for other to chime in, but I can't think of any serious adverse events coming from this combination.

It boosts serotonin via a different mechanism than reuptake inhibition, the same goes for NE.
@Scott: Will ditch Zoloft and take Remeron + Edronax instead and see what that does for me.

>Since Remeron does not induce serotonin toxicity syndrome when combined with MAOIs, it is doubtful it has any meaningful effect on increasing serotonin. More than likely it is some other mechanism. It is primarily a super potent antihistamine compared to anything else it might do. The norepinephrine boost is also suspect, since it does not induce the typical signs of that...blood pressure, heart rate, etc.
But if it helps someone feel better, that is all that matters.

well it probably increases 5ht in a more regional/state specific way. and the 5ht2/3 blocking would mostly prevent 5ht toxicity too.
as for NA, the synergistic effect would probably be good, but i suppose you could also have too much, and have BP/somatic anxiety problems.

Do you think the pristiq + remeron combo is as effective as effexor + remeron (California Rocket Fuel)?

Works on depression and social anxiety.
