I've been on Effexor XR for 5 weeks now and I don't feel any better. But I've only been on the highest dose, 300mg, for 2 weeks. Just generally speaking, about how much longer should I stay on this before I decide that it just isn't working? Thanks.

At 300mg, you should start to get a lift. Did you notice ANY improvement while you were increasing? Can you be more specific as to what you are feeling, etc...

> At 300mg, you should start to get a lift. Did you notice ANY improvement while you were increasing? Can you be more specific as to what you are feeling, etc...I've been experiencing typical depressive symptoms the past 5 or 6 months including loss of appetite, weight loss, trouble sleeping, lack of motivation or feeling pleasure, hopelessness, thoughts of death. Since I've been on the Effexor I haven't noticed any changes in terms of feeling better as I've increased the dose but also haven't noticed any side effects either. I'm not sure what to do at this point...

Matt, I would think you'd feel some beginning relief by now; however I stuck with prestiq for at least two months before I could feel it's lift....
Hope you're feeling better. Surprised more haven't responded to your query....
