I've attempted to come off benzos about 5 times and failed.
I finally did some research, and found that some meds help, like Trileptal and tegretol.
Took my first dose today of trileptal, and nothing short of a godsend, not going through severe withdrawal anymore.
all the studies that i read for trileptal and tegretol don't mention dosages for benzo withdrawal.
would 600mgs suffice for withdrawal, or should I look to something like 900-1200mgs?
I've taken trileptal before, and could tolerate 1200 fine.
they first thought it was BPII, but found out after over 5 years of benzo use, I was having tolerance and interdose withdrawals that were causing my symptoms.
thanks for your advice.
regards,
Brian

Very interesting.
Can you describe how it helped in a little more detail?

As for cost, yes, its a newer medication but if you don't have to deal with Tegretol its just as well. The litany of side effects are much more pronounced than Trileptal.

I'm certainly no expert; just reasonably experienced. Coming off benzo's should really be effected in a clinic/hospital: and there must be an element of healthy company and a meaningful interest to occupy you(job, hobby, whatever) when you're eventually discharged. I've no idea of what you've used, but if it's anything in the line Ativan, then going it alone is out like Chelsea Boots.
