Hello guys,
I was finally put back on 90mg Nardil (30 mg t.i.d) and experienced a remarkable recovery... that lasted about a week.
I am a little scared as to what to do next. I am seeing a local government psychiatrist, and they tend to go by the PDR - I am wondering, is anyone taking more than 90mg of Nardil? I really think I might need more, even though the PDR lists 90mg at the maximum dose.
If so, are there studies to back it up?
When I was in the hospital, the doctor suggested augmentation with thyroid - has anyone tried this with success? And at what dosage, and what particular type of thyroid?
Symptoms: Anxiety, lack of energy, Nardil effect not pronounced anymore, amotivation
Nardil 30mg (two 15mg tablets) @ 7am, 11am and 5pm
Klonopin 0.5mg 2x/day
Lamictal 200mg AM
Temazepam 30mg at bedtime

I took Cytomel, which is T3. It really picked me up, gave me a lot of energy and brightened my mood. It also shut down my thyroid completely. I think it pooped.

Not to side track the thread but cytomel shut down your thyroid do you now have hypothyroid? Phillipa

Hi,
How long have you been tapering up the Nardil? And how long have you been at 90mg? The initial kick when Nardil starts working can cause a mild case of hypomania. Many people misinterpret this as the true antidepressant effect of Nardil. Sadly, or probably luckily, this short lived hypomania is just a side effect of the medication. If the medication seemed to work when it kicked in, I would give it some more time. Nardil can be a true wonder drug for many people that have tried all others.
