I know this has been covered in various forms in the archives..arggg..I take 50 mg. of seroquel along with 7.5 zopiclone and .05 clonazapam at bedtime. About 15 minutes after taking my meds, I binge eat..I can make fairly healthy food choices during the day, but have little appetite, until I take nite meds...
This is getting awful..I hate myself in the morning and I'm now in the obese category.
I've tried going to bed right away after taking my meds, but the compulsion to eat large amounts of sugary stuff overwhelms me and up I get and hit the kitchen. I know I'm in a bit of a foggy state, as I don't even bother to clean up..
Please, has anyone been able to control this type of seroquel induced night binge eating..and if so..please help..I'm at my wits end..

I'm sorry know this would be suggested but not have those foods in the house? Sounds like meds working though. Let us know how the ad is working. Love Phillipa

I don't have junk food in the house..I won't even buy honey or jams anymore..I'm going to have to pitch my icing sugar and brown sugar..as that's what I've been getting into..I'm scared if I have nothing sweet in my house, I'll hop in the car to get something sweet..and am too medicated at night to be driving!! This sucks!

Not taking away from your problem but a little story of ex. See he would get up at night eat peanut butter a whole jar and claim he didn't remember. Was cheating and wanted to lose weight. So I'd buy peanut butter on purpose. My revenge was subtle.
Boy sugar? Think the meds are acting like ambien does for some my neighbor gets up and takes a quart of ice cream and eats it all no memory.
Well I think I'll have to come there if you warm it up first and lock you in your room!!!! Sorry maybe you need to change your sleep med? Is that possible? I do care. Love Phillipa

For anxiety, yes, you may have strong anxiety problems.
Also Seroquel at anything but a really low dose should not be discontinued suddenly. It can cause besides extreme anxiety, withdrawal dyskinesia, a temporary but uncomfortable muscular phenomenon.
At something like say 300-400 mg, it should be discontinued by at least 50s if not 25s for a short period of time.

Probably not too much at that dose, other than if you are used to it, you may have a short period of greater insomnia than you usually have.

I'm taking 300mgs of seroquel, all at night. Yeah it completely disinhibits my appetite. I have no feeling of satiety. Once I start eating, I can't stop. And it now has a hugh warning about causing type 2 diabetes. Its a serious problem!
My solution? I try to eat very little during the day (for some blessed reason I have little or no appetite during the day) and at dinner time I have a hugh amount of vegetables and the biggest orange I can find for dessert. Its terrible. I feel stuffed to bursting. And scared that I am going to gain weight even with the vegetable strategy. I hate the seroquel. It is helping with my depression but it gives me panic attacks when I wake up and I think it makes me feel shakey all day. I'm just afraid to lower the dose for fear of feeling more depressed. My pdoc wants me to increase the dose...
I think its a bad drug. Does some good at a really high cost. But if like me, you've tried everything, your choices are limited. It sucks!

Yeah, it's awful..haven't taken it for 3 nights..haven't binge eaten for 3 nights..but haven't been able to fall asleep until 3 in the morning either.., even with increased zopiclone...
I think I would fall asleep faster, but I have a lot of pain with fibro. Seroquel seemed to get me to sleep in spite of the pain, but I can't stand the out-of-control eating anymore..pdoc asked me to let him know by today how I was sleeping..
Argggg..

Can you eat less. Just enough to kill the craving. You realy have to tell yourself no more and you will actualy get over it in a little while. Also eat healthy if posible or just a few bites of some thing bad. The trick is to realy say NO. Or no more. I don't know if this is the same with seroquel, which I have never taken. I take zyprexa, hense the name.

Could this be from cessation of the seroquel. I was only taking 50 mg's per night. The itchiness started right after I stopped taking it, so it's the only thing I can contribute it to.
Any suggestions to stop it? I'm sleeping better and feel more alert in the mornings, so I really would like to stay off seroquel..no more eating at night..it's been such a relief..I now have hope that I can shed some weight.
Thinking of changing my name to ItchyandScratchy..

i think its quite likely, since seroquel is a very potent antihistamine (which most of why it is a strong sleep aid). its a withdrawal reaction.
