wow, no that'd really freak me out. You see my t is not allowed to function in any other setting or to see any other clients (I am just kidding here ;-).
you might get more responses over on the psychobabble psychology board.I'm curious about how you're dealing with that.
and welcome to psychobabble :-)

> This IS FREAKING ME OUT!!! BIG TIME!!!!State laws (assuming the US) vary as to what can and cannot occur between a psychologist/psychiatrist.
It is usually the medical and psychological boards though that weigh in on this more than the state, i.e. sexual relationships obviously are not permitted, and generally physical contact with the patient, even if they are in tears (hugs) are unfortunately (or maybe Oedipus/Freudian fortunately not allowed.
As for having a professor, its a grey area -- its doubtful if they are ethical that you would ever be known as a patient, but I can definitely see the problem with criticisms in grading, etc.
If I happen to see my doctor/therapist on the street and acknowledge them or say hi, they will, but to protect my privacy, they will act as if I am just another person. I think that's ethical enough.-- Jay
