I need experiences of people who have tried both doses and if they found any benefit in moving up to 300 from 150mg.

I have tried both dosages, and it didn't make that much difference for me. Each dose increase gave me increased anxiety and insomnia. However, when I went from 150 mg to 300, I was on Zoloft, as well, and I think that kept me fairly even. In my experience, Wellbutrin is not as powerful as the SSRIs. What symptoms are you trying to ameliorate?

Sounds like an upper downer. Not trying to be sarcastic or anything. Just seems like one would cancel the other out. Phillipa

Does the Wellbutrin help with those symptoms? Are you on anything else?

25mg of Trazodone but it's not doing much but making me feel run down.

Increased motivation. Anything above 300...450mg produces "anxiety" such as "adrenaline" like.

Hi, Theo, yes increasing the dose of Wellbutrin helped me a great deal. I took 450 mg when I was at my best; it was combined with Effexor at that time. A couple of weeks after starting on it, I had almost no side effects from Wellbutrin that I know of. It can be a bit difficult to get used to during the first few weeks for most people though.
For some reason, the generic XL version I've tried twice now--has no positive effect on me. Either my neuro balance has changed, or the generic version sux. Generics only have to be something like 80% or 85%? as effective as the brand; I can't remember the exact figure.

Are you still taking 450mg Wellbutrin XL?

No--that was a long time ago! But I tried it again recently--and it had no positive effects at all.

just thought I'd mention, Theo, I had no side effects from 450 mg of Wellbutrin. None. Of course this does not mean anyone else won't, and the higher dosage of Wellbutrin, the higher risk of seizure; but I think it somehow reduced electrical activity in my brain, from a non-technical standpoint because I don't know anything about brain chemistry. I only can sense things.
Wellbutrin was the only drug I can say I actually liked to take. THE only one. When it worked, but then again I took the brand - not the generic - back then.
There were side effects for me when I first took it - some jitterness, agitation - but it completely went away. It takes a few weeks to get used to, for most people, I think.
Good luck!
