I started wellbutrin XL about a mth ago 150 mg
i also take
abilify 20 mgs
klonopin 3 mgs a day
and i all of a sudden have been having these awful nightmares andd dreams has anyone else expreinced this while taking wellbutrin, reason thinking its that i have been on the other meds for yrs...

I've never had that experience from Wellbutrin. In fact,it had the least side effects of any anti depressant I've ever taken.
I have had vivid dreams from SSRIs. I'm not sure if Wellbutrin has that same effect..but do you think you are remembering your dreams more? Wondering if it could be that you've been having nightmares, but due to the Wellbutrin, you are simply remembering them more. Don't know.
When I take antidepressants, it seems I dream all night long, I remember them better. But I don't remember having any nightmare in my lifetime, but a couple of dreams that were bad because someone I loved was hurt. Never nightmares.
When I took Zoloft once, for a second time, I was having scary thoughts, not dreams, but sort of like daydreams. I kept thinking of ugly things and ugly activities. This sounds stupid, but i would visualize a family member stuffing food in their mouth, or people i know with their faces messed up. Never had thoughts like this before.. It was so weird and frightening. I quit taking it after a week because of this.

maybe thats it i am just remembering them , never remember having dreams like this. they actually scare me. when i was on zoloft i never had this problem..... well i stopped taking it and well see what happenns thanks for you advice

I have had nightmares on each AD I have taken. Cymbalta, lexapro and wellbutrin.
I will admit wellbutrin has not been as bad, but I have had them. It could be that I have gotten used to them.
But then again, I have PTSD flashbacks so the nightmares can't be as bad as those.
in any case, I do understand what you are going through and yes
I believe ad's can cause nightmares.rsk

on sris dreaming tends to go down especially at first...MAOIs one hardly dreams at all. although dreaming during sws might occur. i might want to try that if it is very unpleasant. i might also look into lucid dreaming as a way to get control over dream content.

in your mind's eye
then you can control what's happening
it's not easy to doit was either serzone or luvox that gave me the worst dreams--killing little baby animals--yikes
had nightmares coming off of effexor but they were so interesting i didn't mind

I just wanted to attest I started having lucid dreams before ever taking a psychiatric drug...but I do notice I go through periods of having lucid dreams every night - to having none for months. It's bizzare. At any rate, I hate them because they are very boring and when I realize I am dreaming, I observe it for like a minute, then make myself totally wake up....then fall back in the lucid dreaming state, bring myself back to consciousness, rinse and repeat...
At any rate, ADs really screw up my sleep, which I think causes more problems than what the ADs are prescribed for. Sleep is vital to human beings, right?

Okay, this is really weird..but one of my lucid dreams was of my reading the word "J..... Candida" on a white piece of paper-no other words. This was years ago. I forget the J word, unfortunately, but at the time, I googled it and one single entry came up from google that matched exactly, which is weird...I think the web page was Spanish or Portuguese, but before the translate thing was there to check.
Just recently, I found out Candida is a yeast. It is also a brand of white wine, but I forget the type of grape.
Many of my lucid dreams are of reading. I observe myself dreaming of reading in the manner of a typewriter outputting the letters across the lines from left to right..sometimes phrases, sometimes just words, and sometimes just a mix of letters all jumbled up. Sometimes I let myself keep dreaming while I try to understand what I am reading in the dream...but get annoyed and stop..Anyone else do this?
